American photographer Spencer Platt (37) from Westport, Connecticut, graduated from Clark University with a degree in English before starting as a freelance photojournalist. In 2000 he joined Getty Images in New York. He covers national news stories as well as international assignments in, among others, Iraq and Liberia. He won WPP 2006 with his photo of young Lebanese driving a Mini Cooper through the devastated neighbourhoods of southern Beirut a day after the ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel.
